(UNDATED) - Have you wondered what impact this winter has had on your dormant plants and shrubs?
Purdue Extension Horticulture Specialist Rosie Lerner says it's too early to say because plenty of winter remains.
However, Lerner says the dormancy of plants prepared them to withstand the frigid cold. She says cycles of freezes and warm ups during the season are far more harmful to plants.
Lerner says the snow actually helped to insulate plants and protected them. However, she adds that high winds have been a problem. She says high winds cause plants to lose moisture.
Ultimately, Lerner says it's too early to do those pruning chores so hold off. Winter isn't done yet.
