(VINCENNES) - Tecumseh-Harrison Elementary School in Vincennes went on lockdown Friday afternoon after police attempted to serve a warrant on a wanted person.
Superintendent Greg Parsley says the incident happened around 2:40 pm after the U.S. Marshal's service and Indiana State police attempted to serve a warrant on Travis Campbell at a residence within the school zone.
Campell who was unarmed took off on foot and attempted to enter the school. Police notified school officials and the school went into immediate lockdown preventing Campbell from entering the school.
A school bus driver, who also is a Bicknell reserve police officer, was on the scene and was able to apprehend Campbell without incident.
Campbell is facing charges of contempt, resisting law enforcement, possession of a handgun as a convicted felon, possession of meth and drug paraphernalia and maintaining a common nuisance.
