(INDIANAPOLIS) - An Indianapolis mother is facing battery charges after police say she beat up her five-year-old daughter.
30-year-old Natalie Umphrey was arrested Monday night at a north side home.
Officers were called there to check on her nine other children after the little girl showed up at the hospital with a swollen, bloody nose. The child told the nurse that her mother had assaulted her. The claim was also backed up by the girl's father.
The girl's father told detectives that Umphrey had thrown his daughter to the floor and spanked her for taking candy from a drawer.
