(ALLEN CO.) - The change of venue for the David Bisard trial will cost Marion County over $25,000.
Bisard was found guilty last November of driving drunk and causing a crash that killed a motorcyclist and critically injured two others in August 2010.
Due to media coverage of the high-profile case, which also led to a shake-up of the top brass at the Indianapolis Metro Police Department, Bisard's attorneys requested and were granted a change of venue for the trial. The trial was moved to Fort Wayne in Allen County.
Allen County filed a claim Wednesday for compensation related to costs incurred by the trial. The costs total $25,588 and include $1,750 for the daily expense of keeping Bisard behind bars - coupled with an additional $451 for medical expenses; $18,592 for mileage, meals, lodging, per diem and other costs paid to jurors and $4,260 for other expenses.
