(LAPORTE) - A convicted killer who was captured in Indiana after escaping from a Michigan prison is scheduled to appear before a judge for an extradition hearing.
Michael David Elliot is contesting a warrant seeking his return to Michigan. He is scheduled to appear Thursday afternoon for a hearing before LaPorte Circuit Judge Thomas Alevizos.
Elliot escaped Feb. 2 from Ionia Correctional Facility in Michigan and was apprehended in Indiana the next day. He is charged with auto theft in Indiana. He's also charged with carjacking, kidnapping and escape in Michigan. He was serving life in prison without parole for fatally shooting four people and burning down their Gladwin County house in 1993 when he was 20 years old.
Elliot refused to waive the extradition hearing.
