(INDIANAPOLIS) - An Indianapolis man wanted for several thefts set up through an online classified service surrendered to police last week.
18-year-old Aaron Noble, who was known to detectives as "The Craigslist Bandit," turned himself in February 28. Noble is facing three counts of theft and one count of possession of stolen property for the crimes he is alleged to have committed.
Capitol Police responded to the first reported theft July 23 of last year. The victim told investigators he arranged to sell his iPod Touch via Craigslist. When he met with the suspect downtown, Noble allegedly asked to look at the iPod, then began to scream loudly and ran off into a wooded area between the Indiana State Museum and the Eiteljorg Museum.
The suspect allegedly committed two similar crimes - on August 3 and August 28 - both times screaming and running into the wooded area with the device he had arranged to purchase.
The detective on the case was able to gather enough information through computer records and photo lineups over the course of a seven-month investigation to obtain a warrant for Noble's arrest.
Noble surrendered to police after being notified of the outstanding arrest warrant.
Anyone else who has information about Noble or believes they may have been one of his victims are asked to contact Detective Meneely at the Indiana State Police Capitol Police Section dispatch at 317-232-3142.
