(DUBOIS CO.) - The Dubois County Sheriff’s Office says they’ve started to receive calls from the public about possible scam attempts in the area.
Deputies say the callers are stating that German American Bank accounts are involved.
The sheriff's office wants to remind everyone that those calls are scams. Authorities say no one should give out any personal or banking information on the phone.
Some of the scammers will be persistent and sometimes threatening, but the best response is to hang up on the caller if you think someone is trying to scam you.
Deputies say most of these type of calls will come from a restricted or blocked caller ID or an out of the area phone number.
If you have given out personal or banking information you should contact your local law enforcement agency.
