(INDIANAPOLIS) - Jim Irsay’s daughter, Carlie Irsay Gordon, will take over leadership of the Indianapolis Colts.
With the team owner Jim Irsay seeking treatment after his arrest on OWI and drug possession, the Colts have turned to his daughter.
The team released this statement Wednesday morning, reading: "in the case of a temporary absence of Mr. Irsay, Carlie Irsay-Gordon is the principal of authority."
Carlie Irsay-Gordon is one of three Irsay daughters that have the title "Vice Chairman/Owner." She also has represented the Colts at NFL owners meetings.
The team confirms that General Manager Ryan Grigson along with his staff will continue to run the day-to-day football operations. This includes fine-tuning the roster and getting ready for next month's draft.
Jim Irsay checked himself in a treatment facility following his arrest Sunday from a traffic stop in which police said he failed sobriety tests and had multiple prescription drugs inside his vehicle. Irsay was released on bond Monday afternoon. Formal charges are pending. Irsay's first court appearance is scheduled for next week.
