(INDIANAPOLIS) - An Indianapolis mother has been arrested on neglect charges after police said they found her four children in deplorable conditions at an east side motel.
RTV6 reports 33-year-old Amber Smith admitted to leaving her baby and three other children alone while she was undergoing drug treatment at a methadone clinic.
Police received an anonymous tip of children being left alone in an east side motel Wednesday morning. When they arrived they found a six-year-old caring for a four-month old baby and two four year old boys.
Trash and clothes were scattered all over the room and the children could not remember the last time they had eaten.
Smith was charged with four counts of neglect of a dependent and Child Protective Services took emergency custody of the children.
