(UNDATED) - Outdoor Indiana magazine’s March-April issue features a cover story on harvesting oil and natural gas in Indiana. The issue also features Shakamak State Park in Jasonville, part of which was built on an old coal mine.
Readers will learn of Indiana's role in meeting today's energy needs and how a place that used to meet some of yesterday's coal needs was transformed into one of Indiana's earliest state parks.
The article on Shakamak is a removable eight-page booklet. The article continues the magazine's series in which one state park or reservoir property will be portrayed through 2016, the 100th anniversary of Indiana state parks.
Outdoor Indiana is available now at most DNR properties and Barnes & Noble stores in Indiana for $4. Subscriptions are $15 for one year (six issues, a 27 percent savings) and $28 for two years (12 issues, a 42 percent savings). While supplies last, every new online subscription order will receive a free 2014 Outdoor Indiana wall calendar.
