(FORT WAYNE) - An 80-year-old Fort Wayne woman has lost an eye and undergone multiple surgeries after an attack by a man she told police was her neighbors’ nephew.
The Journal Gazette and WANE-TV report 19-year-old Zachery Doan of Fort Wayne has been charged with robbery resulting in serious bodily injury, burglary resulting in bodily injury and aggravated battery, all felonies, in the March 10 attack. He's being held in the Allen County Jail on $75,000 bond.
Court records don't indicate whether Doan has an attorney.
The woman, whose name wasn't included in a probable cause affidavit, told police that she let the man in once, and he broke in again later after she refused to let him back in. She told police he punched her repeatedly and she blacked out.
