(PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla.) - A 13-year-old Indiana boy died Saturday morning when he fell off the balcony of a Panama City Beach condo.
"It's horrible. I feel so bad for his parents," said Brittney Daniels, a guest at the Palazzo. "I have a 2-year-old little girl and I couldn't imagine, couldn't imagine what they're going through."
Panama City Beach Police and the local fire rescue arrived on scene around 10 a.m. after they received a call from his family. The young man from Plainfield, Ind., who's identity has not yet been released, was visiting Panama City Beach.
Officials said the two were checking out of the condominiums, when the victim told his grandmother he left his phone upstairs, according to Panama City Beach Police Chief Drew Whitman. When he didn't come back down, his grandmother started calling for him. When she went to check on him, she saw he had fallen off the balcony.
Beach police said they're investigating it as an accidental death.
