(FORT WAYNE) - The way the Allen County Department of Health measures restaurant inspections could be changing.
Officials with the Fort Wayne-Allen County Department of Health say the inspections won't change, but how you understand them could.
Plans in the works that might attach an A,B,C or F grade to those inspections. That's similar to how hotels are graded now.
This comes as a number of restaurants were temporarily closed this year.
Leaders are hopeful this will help the public make better informed decisions on where to eat and improve compliance with food safety rules. They are also considering a smartphone app.
The proposed changes are still in the draft stage, and months away from approval.
