(UNDATED) - Indiana’s Fifth District congressional primary is one of three pitting Republican incumbents against Tea Party-backed challengers.
David Stockdale contends Congresswoman Susan Brooks' vote last fall to end the government shutdown was a vote in favor of government spending, including on Obamacare.
Brooks says budgets are an essential part of governing, and says you can't hold out for a perfect bill.
Stockdale says Republicans should have dared Democrats to fund the original version of the health care law, without the delays and exemptions approved by the White House. Brooks boasts she's co-authored a bill to give individuals the same delays businesses or other groups have gotten for the law's requirements.
Perennial candidate Mike Campbell is also on the GOP ballot, but Democrats charge there's a stealth fourth Republican in the race.
David W. Ford calls himself a John F. Kennedy Democrat. He echoes many of Stockdale's talking points, including criticizing Brooks for voting with Republican Speaker John Boehner.
The other Democratic hopefuls, Allen Davidson and Shawn Denney, have blasted Ford for seeking Tea Party support. Davidson says he'd vote to increase the minimum wage, and to simplify the tax code.
