(BOSTON, MA) - A Greentown, Indiana teacher is running the Boston Marathon today after competing in last year’s tragedy-stricken race.
Michelle Larson says she was about a block from the first explosion site near the finish line last year.
Larson says she first thought the explosion was a celebratory cannon, but soon realized it was a bomb.
Larson says she kept running to find her husband who was supposed to be near the finish line, but she was stopped by a police officer. The officer told her what had happened and then she feared for her husband's safety. She learned about an hour later that her husband was never able to get to the finish line due to traffic problems.
The breast cancer survivor says she decided to run this year's event about a day after the marathon last year.
