(JENNINGS CO.) - A Jennings County man has died after being caught on fire while burning brush on his farm.
85-year-old Donald Johnson was taken to Eskenazi Health's trauma center in Indianapolis Tuesday in critical condition.
According to Maj. Jerry Shepherd, a Jennings County deputies were called to County Road 200 East Tuesday to investigate a report that a man was on fire.
Deputies discovered that Johnson, of Jackson Street in North Vernon, had sustained critical burns over a large area of his body. Johnson was flown from the scene to the Indianapolis hospital in extremely critical condition.
Shepherd says Johnson appeared to have been burning brush on his farm and caught his clothing on fire which caused his injuries.
A spokesperson for the hospital reports that Johnson has died, but an exact time of death is not yet available.
