(JOHNSON CO.) - An inmate at the Johnson County Jail is facing new charges after police say he attacked two jail workers and another inmate.
According to a police report from the Johnson County Sheriff's Office, on Friday, a deputy working the booking area of the jail came in contact with 27-year-old inmate Donald Whitmire, who was being escorted to indoor recreation.
The report says when the deputy removed Whitmire from his cell, and she began to move him through the booking area, he punched her on the left side of her face.
After punching the deputy, Whitmire punched an inmate, who was using the phone in the booking area, in the eye.
Whitmire proceeded through the booking area, where he came in contact with another member of the jail staff who attempted to gain control of him.
Whitmire kicked the corporal in the stomach, the report said. It took a number of members of the jail staff to get control of Whitmire.
Those who were injured received medical treatment shortly after the incident.
Whitmire faces charges of battery on an officer, battery and resisting law enforcement.
