Officials Say Boy's Remains Likely Incinerated

Last updated on Friday, April 25, 2014

(SEVIERVILLE, TN) - Officials haven’t found the remains of a five-year-old Indiana boy who is presumed dead following a fire at a rental cabin in East Tennessee and say it’s likely they were completely incinerated.

Sevier County Sheriff Office Capt. Jeff McCarter told the Knoxville News Sentinel that firefighters and investigators spent several days sifting through debris. He said anthropologists told police that there was a "great possibility" that no remains exist for Tyveon Temple.

The fire broke out April 12 at a Sevierville cabin where 22 people from Kentucky and Indiana were staying.

One other person, 56-year-old Ricky Hudson, died after suffering severe lacerations from breaking a window in an attempt to save others. Hudson was the boy's step-grandfather.

The cause of the blaze is still under investigation.
