(INDIANAPOLIS) - IMPD fatal crash investigators spent Thursday morning sorting out a deadly accident involving a bicyclist and a school bus on the north side of Indianapolis.
The crash happened just before 7:30 a.m. at the intersection of Westlane Road and Ditch Road. Officer Kendale Adams with IMPD said the bicyclist was heading westbound on Westlane Road, while the school bus was heading eastbound and turning north onto Ditch Road when the accident occurred.
The man on the bicycle died at the scene. Police have not released his name.
The female bus driver was the only one on board the bus and she was not hurt. Police opened the intersection shortly before 11:00 a.m.
13 Investigates says the Durham School Services bus was contracted out to IPS, and was last inspected in the summer of 2013.
IPS spokesperson Le Boler said the bus was in the area to transport a single student from a Washington Township school to an IPS school.
