(MUNCIE) - Ball State University will name a new president today.
Ball State's board of trustees will hold a special meeting at 1pm to vote on and announce the school's 15th president.
The new president will replace Jo Ann Gora, who is retiring after ten years on the Muncie campus and 40 years in education.
The finalists to replace Gora were chosen from among 22 applicants reviewed by an executive search firm. Their names have been kept private, and the chairman of the search committee, Wayne Estopinal, told the Muncie Star-Press they were still in talks with one candidate.
Under Gora, Ball State spent around $250 million to on new buildings and renovations to old ones, including the new David Letterman Communication and Media Building and the Student Recreation and Wellness Center, which was named for Gora. She is also proud of the university's geothermal heating and cooling system, the largest system of its kind in the U.S.
The Board of Trustees meeting is open to the public - it will be held at Sursa Performance Hall.
