(HAGERSTOWN) - Terrifying moments for a woman who was saved from a highway kidnapping on Interstate 70.
The woman was driving west on I-70 near Richmond when she noticed a suspicious car trailing her. The woman's brother called 911.
"My sister just called me on the way home from work," the man told the dispatcher, saying his sister was about to be kidnapped.
The man trailing her car forced her onto SR 1 exit, boxing her van in. He was no stranger. Police say it was Todd Stigleman, her estranged husband.
"Soon-to-be ex-husband, he was following her, stopped her in the middle of the damn road and I think he's trying to kidnap her right now," the brother told 911.
It's the Hagerstown exit. Police started looking for the suspect's car. Meanwhile, the victim's brother tells 911 what he heard over his sister's open cell phone.
"The phone stayed on for a few minutes. Then somebody hung it up. I heard a bunch of rustling," he said.
As he listened in on the open line, the victim's brother knows Stigleman is violating a no-contact order in a messy divorce.
"I heard his voice and it went dead. I didn't try calling him back. I just called 911," the man said.
As the brother drove around searching, he says he found the suspect's car, but the van was gone.
Hagerstown Police found the man and woman in a rural area. Both were okay.
