Last updated on Saturday, May 3, 2014

(UNDATED) - Indiana has a new organization to help tackle childhood obesity.

It's called Jump IN for Healthy Kids. CEO Ron Gifford says the new initiative is a coalition of civic, business, health, faith and academic leaders who are committed to reducing childhood obesity.

Gifford says childhood obesity remain a nationwide epidemic. He says the group is seeking ways to address the issue.

Gifford says the group includes a 28 person leadership council, small staff and they're building a volunteer base.

Gifford says they'll focus on creating programs that help kids and families make healthy choices. They'll also promote employer wellness programs, restaurants, bike share programs, playgrounds and more.
