(BOYNTON BEACH, Fla.) - A man was arrested and charged with starving his father to death, police in Florida said.
The Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office said that 46-year-old William Currier had been taking care of his father, 70-year-old William Currier.
Deputies said that when they were called to the Currier residence they found that Currier Sr., had died.
Currier, Sr., was 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighed 81 pounds at the time of his death, police said.
Investigators say that the victim had multiple bedsores on his body and was covered in feces and urine.
Deputies say that there was food in the home which the son said that he bought for his father.
William Currier told deputies that his father was stubborn and did not want him to hire help because he was afraid that they would steal from him.
The father also did not want to go into a nursing home, WPTV reported.
Currier told deputies that, "I did the best that I could do and I did not do a good job, I admit it. They also said that he stated, "Just take me away and lock me up."
Investigators confirmed William Currier, Sr. died of starvation.
His son was charged with first degree murder and aggravated abuse of an elderly person.
