(MUNCIE) - Muncie Police say a liquor store clerk shot a man Friday night who was attempting to rob the store.
Investigators say Anthony Williams, 46, Muncie, was shot during the attempted robbery Friday night. It happened about 11:20 p.m. at Fifteenth-Hoyt Liquor Store on Muncie's south side.
Investigators say Williams entered the store and pretended he had a gun. When the clerk thought Williams was trying to grab a gun behind the counter, she grabbed the gun and ran. Williams ran after her and a struggle broke out. The gun went off, hitting Williams in the thigh.
Williams now faces a felony robbery charge.
Williams was taken to Ball Memorial Hospital with a single gun shot wound. On Saturday, investigators said Williams was doing fine and recovering from surgery.
