(UNDATED) - Thousands of Americans are hitting the open road in their RVs.
That's great news for RV manufacturers in northern Indiana. That's where 85 percent of the world's RVs are produced.
Recreational Vehicle Indiana Council Executive Director Mark Bowersox says the RV industry has almost fully rebounded to where it was before the recession hit in late 2007.
Bowersox says manufacturers expect to ship 340,000 RVs this year. He says that's double the figure of 2008-2009.
He says the industry has seen consolidation yet steady climb. He says the RV industry leads the economy into and out of recession.
Bowersox says people are clearly feeling better about the economy and many want to buy RVs.
While the economy continues to slowly climb back, Bowersox says Americans appear to be more comfortable with economic uncertainty.
