(UNDATED) - A new poll out shows that 83% of Americans think their fellow citizens are not informed voters.
The Rasmussen survey took a sampling of 1,000 likely U.S. voters. Only 9% felt that Americans were informed voters.
62% believe their vote counts, but that's down from 86% in October 2008.
Marion County Clerk Beth White says voting has become more difficult across the nation.
White says voter registration has become more complicated and young voters are having a tougher time trying to vote.
White says campaign finance and lack of transparency in politics has created an environment in which people who might vote believe their vote doesn't matter.
White says Americans have an obligation to vote, but government also has an obligation to streamline the process.
