(WESTFIELD) - Westfield Mayor Andy Cook is banking on a $40 million hotel development to bolster the new Grand Park Sports Complex.
The project is set for U.S. 31 and State Road 32 near downtown Westfield. The development would replace Westfield High School's old football stadium. It includes a hotel, office space and entertainment center.
Cook says the project is being funded by local investors. He says developers have paid Westfield Washington Schools about $4 million for the site.
The school system is building a new football facility near the high school.
Cook says the project is a great asset to downtown tourism.
The school agreement with the investment is up for Westfield City Council approval Monday evening. Hotel construction will begin next spring. As yet, there's no hotel chain committed.
Construction on the new football stadium will also begin soon.
