(NDIANAPOLIS) - Police are investigating a shooting near Arsenal Technical High School.
Metro police officers say a girl was reported shot on Oriental Street, on the west side of the school's campus. Police say the 17-year-old girl's injuries, reportedly to her arm or shoulder, are not believed to be life-threatening.
Detectives have recovered the gun and clothes belonging to the 19-year-old male suspect, who they say was a former boyfriend of the victim. Family members say the man had threatened the girl in the past.
IPS Superintendent Dr. Lewis Ferebee says the suspect is not a student at the school, the victim is a senior at Arsenal Tech.
Arsenal Tech was locked down while police searched for the suspect.
