(GARY) - A $23.7-million dollar budget deficit is forcing the Gary School Board to consider closing five schools.
The board is expected to vote today.
Officials say the school system has lost 100 million dollars in recent years because of declining enrollment and revenue, property tax caps and low property tax collections.
