(UNDATED) - Crews are assessing the damage from Tuesday afternoon’s storms on the Marion County-Hendricks County border.
Wayne Township Fire Department Captain Mike Pruitt says the damage was mostly concentrated just north of Washington Street on Raceway Road near Blue Pine Road, just north of Washington Street. He says three homes in the Cameron Meadows neighborhood suffered heavy damage and more suffered minor damage.
No injuries were reported and Pruitt says no residents were trapped inside their homes.
Pruitt says they've had many onlookers coming through the area to look at the damage. He is asking people to avoid the area to help with traffic congestion.
The National Weather Service says a tornado was spotted near Speedway earlier, confirmed by spotters who say also report debris at U-S 40 and Perry Road. Dave Tucek at the National Weather Service says it moved in from Plainfield but it's not known how long it remained as a tornado causing damage or when it may have changed to straight-line winds causing damage.
