(INDIANAPOLIS) - There’s resolution in the questionable death of an Indianapolis toddler—almost four decades later.
Billy Wood died in January 1977. His babysitter- 57-year-old Michael Ackerman was found guilty in his death on Tuesday. He had been dating the boy's mother and was watching Wood and his sister while their mother was at work.
The case was reviewed after the Cold Case Homicide Unit was contacted by the victim's sister. Prosecutors asked a forensic pathologist to review the victim's autopsy records.
The cause of death was blunt-force injuries of the head, chest and abdomen.
