(MORGAN CO.) - Indiana Conservation Officer Lance Labonte received the Indiana Department of Natural Resources Division of Law Enforcement’s Pitzer Award for 2013 as outstanding officer of the year.
Officer Labonte, who is from Morgan County, is a canine handler, airboat operator and river rescue instructor. He was credited for investigations of several hunting violations, three deaths and multiple ATV accidents. Officials say he also evacuated residents from flooded homes and motorists from stranded cars in 2013.
He has been an officer in Indiana since 2009.
Officer Labonte became eligible for the award after being named District 6 officer of the year by his peers in that district.
