(SCOTTSBURG) - State police are investigating the death of an inmate who was being held at a southeastern Indiana jail after an autopsy was unable to determine the cause.
State police Sgt. Jerry Goodin says 48-year-old Johnie Locklear of Austin was pronounced dead at the Scott County Hospital about 8 a.m. Saturday after an incident at the Scott County Jail about 2.5 hours earlier.
Details of that incident were not disclosed, but Locklear was taken to the hospital because of undisclosed health-related issues.
The autopsy was conducted Sunday at the Kentucky Medical Examiner's Office in Louisville. Toxicology results are pending.
