(INDIANAPOLIS) - A group of 18 co-workers at the Rolls Royce assembly plant in Indianapolis are feeling lucky this week. Dubbed the “Royal 18,” they won $1 million in Powerball over the weekend.
The group's win came courtesy of Saturday night's $60 million Powerball drawing. One of the group's tickets matched the first five numbers, but not the Powerball number. That earned the group $1 million. The June 21 winning numbers were: 5-6-37-41-54 PB: 26.
The Royal 18 have been playing the lottery for several years. Each person contributes $10 weekly. The group's organizer said they weren't having much luck, so he asked a colleague to buy the tickets at a location they hadn't tried before.
The Village Pantry on E. Main St. in Greenwood proved to be the million-dollar decision.
Each member of the group received $55,555 before taxes.
The winners are all first-shift employees, but work in different areas of Rolls Royce.
