(UNDATED) - Roudebush Veterans Affairs Hospital in Indianapolis is still awaiting national audit results of its operations.
At issue is whether conditions at Roudebush mirror those found in other VA facilities across the nation. Touted patient deaths, secret waiting lists, delayed care, misdiagnosis of ailments and falsification of medical records at numerous facilities are among those that eventually led to the resignation VA Secretary Eric Shinseki.
American Legion Indiana Commander Ed Trice says the larger issues at Roudebush may involve longer patient waiting times for doctor appointments. They discovered that following a recent town hall meeting.
Trice, who is disabled, says he himself had to wait 45 days to be seen by a doctor at the Marion facility. He says they expect to get audit results on Roudebush in about a week.
He says he doesn't expect any major issues at Roudebush. He adds that facilities in Fort Wayne and Marion had their normal audits several months ago. The Marion facility has experienced long time staffing issues.
