Woman Robbed At Gunpoint On I-74

Last updated on Monday, June 23, 2014

(SHELBY CO.) - A woman says she was robbed at gunpoint on the interstate when her car broke down.

It happened about 1:30 a.m. Saturday morning on I-74 at about the 106 mile marker in Shelby County.

Officials say the woman's car had a flat tire so she pulled to the side of the interstate. A black truck pulled up and the two white males inside asked if she needed assistance.

As one man acted like he was going to change the tire, the 27-year-old woman grabbed her wallet so she could give the man some money for helping her.

That's when the second man saw the money in her wallet and pointed a black automatic pistol in her face and told her to give him all of her money.

Both men then fled the scene.

The victim was not injured during the incident.

The Shelby County Sheriff's Department is still looking for the two suspects, approximately 35 and 42 years old. They were driving a black Toyota Tundra pickup 4X4 extended cab (not 4 door) with an Indiana truck plate. The plate may have had a county code of 73 or 74 and may have had chrome bull testicles hanging from the trailer hitch.

Contact the Shelby County Sheriff's Department if you have any information.
