(TRAFALGAR) - A woman was arrested near Trafalgar over the weekend after allegedly stealing a cash box from a fruit and vegetable stand on State Road 135.
Johnson County Sheriff's Department reports that on Saturday Rayna J. Russell allegedly asked the clerk at the stand for help buying gas or filling her gas tank. When the clerk left to get a gas can, police say Russell grabbed the cash box and fled.
She was caught by Trafalgar police who discovered a fake license plate on her vehicle. A search of the vehicle and of Russell's clothing allegedly uncovered a nylon bag with scales, hypodermic needles, a butane lighter, a marijuana cigarette and more than $300 cash.
Russell was held on charges of conversion, having an altered registration plate, possession of a hypodermic needle, and possession of marijuana.
