(INDIANAPOLIS) - A murder charge has been filed against 25-year-old Major Davis Jr. in the shooting death of Indianapolis police officer Perry Renn.
Marion County Prosecutor Terry Curry says his office has also filed a request for enhancement of any ultimate sentence based upon the use of a firearm in the killing of officer Renn.
Curry says he is considering seeking the death penalty, but a final decision has not yet been made. Curry says the newly-passed criminal code revisions could add 5-20 years to any possible sentence since a firearm was used in the crime.
Davis is currently listed in stable condition at Eskenazi Hospital and is being treated for gunshot wounds.
