(NASHVILLE) - A Columbus man was arrested Sunday in Brown County on several charges, including driving a stolen vehicle.
At approximately 6 a.m., a deputy with the Brown County Sheriff's Department responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle in the parking lot of a Nashville grocery store. When Deputy Jessica Smith arrived at the IGA lot, the vehicle was gone. Witnesses at the scene directed her to the nearby McDonald's. When Deputy Smith arrived, she made contact with the driver, 32-year-old Vernon Michael Hill, in the restaurant's parking lot.
As the deputy was questioning Hill, Nashville Police Department Marshall Stephanie Hess arrived on the scene. Hess ran a check on Hill and learned that he was wanted on a Bartholomew County warrant.
Hill was arrested and booked in the Brown County Jail. Along with the warrant, he is facing preliminary charges of driving a stolen vehicle and false informing. The vehicle, a stolen Toyota Corolla, was impounded.
