(UNDATED) - Two Northwest Indiana beaches once again ranked among the worst nationally in terms of water quality.
Both Jeorse Beaches -- the original one and the newer beach just east of the Ameristar Casino in East Chicago -- ranked among the worst repeat-offenders in the Natural Resources Defense Council's annual report on the best and worst beaches in the country.
Persistent contamination placed the East Chicago beaches near the bottom nationwide over the past several years. Both Jeorse Beaches were named among the 11 beaches that violated public health standards at least 25-percent of the time over the past five years.
