(MUNCIE) - Excise police officers arrested 71 people on 88 charges over the weekend in Muncie.
Police said on Friday, 47 people were arrested on 49 charges, including illegal possession of alcohol, false statement of age and resisting law enforcement.
Brennen Kreig, 18, of Portland, was arrested after running from police. He was preliminarily charged with illegal possession of alcohol and resisting law enforcement.
Four of the 47 people arrested were adults charged with giving alcohol to minors, according to excise officials.
On Saturday, 24 people were arrested on 39 charges, including resisting law enforcement, illegal possession of alcohol, furnishing alcohol to a minor, possession of false ID, misuse of license, minor in tavern, false informing and false statement of age.
Ryan Dues, 20, of Colwater, Ohio, was arrested after he resisted arrest when an officer saw him drinking a beer on the street. Dues was preliminarily charged with illegal possession of alcohol and resisting law enforcement.
Several people were also issued traffic tickets Friday and Saturday, including open container violations.
Police said arrests were down on Saturday after @ExcisePolice tweeted the following on Saturday afternoon:
"Excise officers will be patrolling in Muncie again tonight. Last night, 45 people were arrested/cited on alcohol-related charges."
