(UNDATED) - It may have been “gusty” wind that brought down the small plane flown by a father and son from Plainfield.
The National Transportation Safety Board's preliminary report quotes a ground crew member in American Samoa who says the aircraft was being shoved from side to side after takeoff and failed to gain altitude. Another witness told investigators he saw the plane go nose down into the water.
The body of 17-year-old Haris Suleman was found and returned to Indiana for his funeral. His father's body has still not been found.
