(INDIANAPOLIS) - The man wanted for taking his 9-month-old child from a home on the east side early Saturday morning is in custody after turning himself in on Sunday morning to police.

IMPD detectives were searching for 22-year-old DeAndre Averitte since Saturday when he took Kristian Averitte from a residence in the 3500 block of Star Magnolia Place around 5:30 a.m.

He was arrested at 3850 DePauw Boulevard and is preliminarily charged with Domestic Battery, Residential Entry, and Auto Theft. Additional charges are possible after the Marion County Prosecutor's Office has reviewed the case.
