(HAMMOND) - A federal judge in Hammond rejected a request by a former pastor of a local mega-church that his 12-year prison sentence for having sex with a teenager be reduced.
Jack Schaap also asked to be able to appeal his sentence to the 7th Circuit Court of Appeals in Chicago, but Judge Rudy Lozano denied the request.
Schaap was pastor of the 15,000-member First Baptist Church of Hammond for 11 years when he was fired in 2012.
