Police Raid Steroid Lab In Rushville

Last updated on Wednesday, August 13, 2014

(RUSH COUNTY) - Authorities arrested two people Tuesday afternoon in a large steroid bust in Rush County.

Rushville Police Chief Craig Tucker says local and federal authorities executed a search warrant at a home in the 1200 block of East State Road 44 in Rush County on allegations that illegal steroids were being produced and distributed from the home. Officials seized an alleged illegal steroid lab.

Chief Tucker says the components that were seized comprise what they believe is the largest illegal steroid lab seized in the state of Indiana to date. He says when fully functional, the lab is capable of producing mass quantities of illegal steroids.

39-year-old David Starkey and his wife, 34-year-old Holly Starkey, were both arrested on felony charges of dealing a controlled substance. Chief Tucker says more charges will be forthcoming and more arrests could come as well.

Tucker says the Rushville Police Department was assisted in the bust by the Rush County Sheriff's Department, the U.S. Postal Inspector's Office and the Drug Enforcement Agency.
