(VANDERBURGH CO.) - A Vanderburgh Co. couple was arrested and charged with three counts of child neglect after deputies say their three children were living in “deplorable” conditions.
Authorities arrested Gavin and Jessica McFall after their three children were found to be living among hundreds of cockroaches, cat urine, and cat feces inside a trailer in the 6000 block of Danville Dr.
The Vanderburgh County Sheriff's office says a case manager alerted deputies to the trailer after they found "deplorable" conditions inside.
Authorities say they found a horrible smell of cat urine and rotting trash piled four feet high inside the home.
On the stovetop, authorities say they found a skillet with 100 dead cockroaches.
There were eight cats living in the home, along with at least five people.
Authorities also say they found cockroaches crawling across one of the children as they were sleeping.
Authorities say Gavin McFall told authorities he knew the home was filthy but stopped cleaning because no one else contributed. We're told the three children are now living with family members.
