(GARY) - A 17-year-old girl has been charged with murder in the death of her mother whose body was found in her car’s trunk in a wooded area of Gary a few weeks ago.
The charges filed by Lake County prosecutors on Wednesday follow the July 11 arrest of the girl's 18-year-old boyfriend on a count of murder in the death of 54-year-old DeCarol Deloney-Cain of Crown Point.
Deloney-Cain was a United Airlines flight attendant. Her body was found July 7, and authorities say she died of stab wounds to the chest and head trauma.
Prosecutors say Deloney-Cain had been fighting with her daughter because the girl had become pregnant. The Times of Munster and the Post-Tribune report authorities say the girl withdrew money from her mother's bank account after her death.
