(INDIANAPOLIS) - A south side neighborhood is enraged after someone shot a cat with a blow dart gun several times.
22-year-old Jeremiah Long admitted to shooting the cat. He was arrested on charges of torturing or mutilating an animal.
Amy Cohron and her husband Dave own Tippy who was a stray dropped off at their home.
Late Tuesday night, while walking the family dog they discovered their cat covered in pins.
"Everywhere you looked there was a big needle sticking out of her," Cohron said.
rescued many animals over the years. Their newest cat was named "Tippy" for the white tip on his tail.
At least nine blow darts were embedded in Tippy's body.
When police arrived, neighbors pointed them to a house down the street. Police said Long admitted to shooting the cat with the blow gun because Tippy was fighting with his cat.
Tippy was taken to an after-hours animal care center, where the vets tried to save him. Eventually he had to be euthanized.
The Cohron's lost their family pet and are now stuck with a more than $400 vet bill.
Formal charges are pending. Long is scheduled to appear in court on September 22.
