(RANDOLPH CO.) - A former teacher’s aide was arrested and charged with child seduction.
Investigators say Rebecca "Nikki" Bosworth admitted having an intimate relationship with a 16-year-old boy. Bosworth now faces a felony charge of child seduction.
Investigators call what happened inside a Winchester home between a former teacher's aide and a 16-year-old student criminal. They say Bosworth, 36, admitted to having sex with the teen boy at least six times at her house.
Police say one encounter occurred while she was still employed with Randolph Central Schools as an aide for special needs students at Willard Elementary.
Randolph Central Schools Superintendent Dr. Greg Hinshaw says Bosworth, a married mother of two, worked for the school corporation for three years. She voluntarily resigned her position in June.
That's when Hinshaw says the principal learned about the sexual allegations with a student at Winchester High School and called police. Three months later, detectives arrested her on a felony child seduction charge.
Bosworth bonded out of jail Tuesday.
Detectives say this was a criminal act, even though the age of consent in Indiana is 16, because of Bosworth's position of authority. She had a duty to protect children. A school corporation employee is prohibited from having sex with a student.
Police say none of the alleged sexual encounters happened on school grounds.
For the child seduction charge, Bosworth now faces up to three years in prison and a $10,000 fine.
