(JOHNSON CO.) - The Johnson County Sheriff’s Department is investigating the death of an inmate Sunday at the county jail.
Sheriff Doug Cox says that 59-year-old Thomas Wyss of Whiteland was in a holding cell with another inmate when he collapsed at about 5:40 Sunday afternoon.
The other inmate hit a panic button and jail personnel, Franklin Fire Department and Seals Ambulance crews tried to revive the inmate, but he was pronounced dead at Johnson Memorial Hospital.
The county coroner's office is planning an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
